Colonel Robert Grainger COLONEL R. SCOTT GRAINGER

Col. Scott Grainger is the Commander, 18th Civil Engineer Group, Kadena Air Base, Japan. He leads the Air Force’s largest Civil Engineer unit comprised of 1,600 military, US and Japanese civilians supporting the 18th Wing, and 30 partner units. He is responsible for providing engineering, utilities, fire protection, disaster preparedness, environmental protection, explosive ordnance disposal for over 35,000 personnel as well as critical war-fighting and peacetime contingency capabilities in support of humanitarian, natural disasters and Air Expeditionary Force deployments worldwide.

Additionally, Chief Golombeski is the Combined Joint Special Operations Air Component, Senior Enlisted Leader responsible for leading and managing five squadrons and a group staff supporting Special Operations Command Pacific, Special Operations Command Korea and all United States special operations forces throughout the Pacific theater by providing combat-ready special tactics forces, MC-130 Combat Talon II and Commando II aircraft.

The 18th Wing, the largest combat wing in the U.S. Air Force, provides the Commander, U.S. Pacific Command, trained and equipped tactical air superiority forces; combat search and rescue forces; command and control platforms; aeromedical evacuation capability; and global mobility resources for contingency operations.
