Continually proving themselves to be hard chargers throughout the 2021 fiscal year; the 18th Comptroller Squadron financial analysis flight has been awarded the PACAF FMA of the year award in acknowledgement of their hard work.

The financial analysis flight received the award for spectacular performance in the course of their duties such as budget analysis, fund acquisitions, fund allocation, and audits.

“Winning this shows the efforts of the whole team,” said Capt. Micah Blakely, 18th CPTS budget officer. “I think we did a really good job with the recurring audits throughout the year and that helped us. They require us to stay consistent and effective.”

A pillar of this consistent effectiveness is the office’s ability to utilize all of the personnel at their disposal. This not only includes the finance Airmen and local nationals working in the office, but also the resource advisors and supporting Airmen from the various units around base who help ensure the success of the year's budget.

“I allocate the funding, make sure it’s loaded properly and then make sure it’s spent properly,” said Kiyomi Tsuhako, 18th CPTS budget analyst. “I couldn’t do that without the help of my team. We all won this.”

Some may see this as a thankless job, but the finance office has shown that the support of your team and a sense of unity can lead you to achieve excellence at whatever you set your mind to accomplish.

“I think as a team we do a good job of managing our requirements and executing them effectively.” Blakely said. “I’m very happy we were able to win this year and I look forward to showcasing our team’s results for the next award submission.”
