Five Kadena F-15s from the 44th Fighter Squadron and about 70 Airmen will depart early next week for Chitose Japan Air Self-Defense Force Base in Hokkaido, Japan to participate in a bilateral training event with the JASDF's 2nd Air Wing.

This Type I Aircraft Training Relocation is designed to increase operational readiness for both air forces while enhancing bilateral interoperability. During the deployment, Kadena F-15 pilots will have the opportunity to hone their combat flying skills with their Japanese counterparts in the 201st and 203rd Tactical Fighter Squadrons. This is the Air Force's first Aircraft Training Relocation at Chitose Air Base.

In addition, the deployment is an opportunity for both sides to strengthen relations and develop mutual trust, ultimately strengthening the U.S.-Japan Security Alliance. The training will last until Dec. 12.
