Kadena deploys to USCENTCOM
A KC-135 Stratotanker from the 909th Air Refueling Squadron takes off from Kadena Air Base, Japan, April 28, 2020. The 909th ARS provided an air bridge for the 44th Fighter Squadron as the F-15C Eagles transitioned from the U.S. Indo-Pacific area of responsibility to the U.S. Central Command theater. More than 300 Airmen assigned to the 18th Operations and Maintenance Groups deployed to the CENTCOM theater to defend U.S. and partner nation interests, while creating logistical flexibility. Like the Indo-Pacific, stability in the CENTCOM area of responsibility demands a credible, capable, and dynamic defense posture to compete, deter, and win against state and non-state actors.
