Gate Entry

Q: Are you checking IDs?

A: Yes, all attendees over the age of 16 are asked to present photo identification for entry. Please reference the graphics on our website for information about which IDs to bring.

Parking

Q: I live on Kadena, do I have to wait in traffic to enter the event?

A: A free shuttle service will be available for Kadena Air Base residents and SOFA personnel for access to the event site. Please take a look at the information on our website for pickup locations.

Q: Is there a bus stop near the gate?

A: There are several bus stops in Kadena Town – attendees may enter through a pedestrian gate on Route 58 adjacent to the event site.

Q: Is there handicapped parking?

A: At the runway parking area accessed through Gate 4, there will be a handicapped parking area close to the event entrance.

Q: What if I have to walk a long distance from my car on the runway?

A: A continuous shuttle service on the runway will be available to transport attendees to a drop-off point close to the event entrance.

 

Event Specifics

Q: Is this an air show?

A: America Fest is not an air show, but several static aircraft will be available to view, along with a host of other activities to enjoy.

Q: Is it free? How can I pay?

A: Entry to America Fest is free, but we encourage you to bring cash or credit card to use at vendor booths.

Q: Is there an ATM?

A: ATMs will not be available at the event site.

Q: What static displays will be there?

A: You will be able to view a variety of static aircraft from the 18th Wing and more. Static displays are subject to change, so we cannot confirm specifics.

Q: What kind of stalls will there be?

Q: Can we go anywhere on base? (Japanese attendees)

A: If you are attending America Fest, you will only be allowed to access the event site.

Q: Can we go anywhere on base? (American attendees)

A: If you are attending America Fest and entering through Gates 2, 3, or 5, you will only be allowed to access the event site by utilizing the free on-base shuttle service. If you attempt to drive directly to the event site from locations on Kadena, you will be denied entry. However, if you choose to enter the event from Gate 4 or the Pedestrian Gate, you will not be turned away.

Q: Can I bring my camera?

A: Yes, but camera lenses 300mm and greater are prohibited.

Q: I don't speak English, will that be a problem?

A: We will have staff members who are bi-lingual present at the event, and most information will be printed in both English and Japanese.
