Kijimuna Fest kick-off
Students from Amelia Earhart Intermediate School on Kadena Air Base, Japan, get audience members involved in their performance by handing off their Taiko drums to spectators on July 23, 2011. The students demonstrated Taiko drumming, Eisa dances and songs for the kick-off event of the Kijimuna Festival. This annual, nine-day celebration is designed to showcase performing arts, workshops and other activities to youth. Kadena, Okinawans 'band together' in giant rope-making
A group of volunteers from Kadena Air Base and Okinawa City band together hand-made rope Nov. 21 to form an even more enormous rope for the Okinawa City International Carnival’s giant tug-of-war on Okinawa City’s “Koza Gate Street,” just outside Kadena’s Gate 2 scheduled Nov. 27.
