KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- From left: Army Maj. David Browning, Brig. Gen. Roger Mathews and Lt. Col. Edward O'Neill conduct a pass in review of the battalion formation at the assumption command for the 1-1 Air Defense Artillery Battalion at Kadena Air Base, Japan, on Aug. 7, 2007. Army Lt. Col. Edward O'Neill assumed command of the 600-person battalion. The unit activated at the base in November 2006, and conducts missile defense for the region with the Patriot missile system in accordance with the U.S. and Japan bilateral security agreements.
