The passenger terminal at Kadena Air Base is scheduled to begin the process of renovating the inbound portion of the terminal Oct. 1, 2021, with a projected completion date of Dec. 31, 2021.

The passenger terminal here is the primary point of entry for military personnel on Okinawa, Japan, and the project will include improvements to the baggage claim area, customs and in-processing. These services will likely experience delays until the construction is completed.

“Ultimately, this infrastructure improvement will result in a smoother, more comfortable experience for military members and their families,” said Amelia Dickson, 515 Air Mobility Operations Wing Public Affairs. “Please know that these delays and inconveniences are temporary and the terminal staff is doing their best to mitigate them.”

Terminal staff from the 733d Air Mobility Squadron will continue to fulfill daily Patriot Express and Space-A mission requirements during this period.

Overseas travel can be very stressful for members and their families – especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. To mitigate potential difficulties, check the terminal’s Facebook page for the most up-to-date and timely information possible. https://www.facebook.com/AMCKadena.
