The largest and best Air Force Non-appropriated Funds Human Resources Office resides right here on Kadena.

The 18th Force Support Squadron NAF HRO was recently recognized as the best in the Air Force for 2011.

"Our non-appropriated fund Human Resources Office is a key reason the 18th Force Support Squadron continues to provide service that's second to none," said Col. Michael Borgert, 18th FSS commander. "It's all about people and our FSS is made up of outstanding people."

The office is responsible for all Kadena NAF positions including the bowling center, any restaurants on base, and the clubs, as well as the Okuma Recreational Area and Bellows Air Station, Hawaii. It is geared towards helping military spouses apply for and receive jobs on base.

In 2011 alone, they processed 1,900 job applications and saved the Air Force 4,800 man-hours, all while going green.

"It's our commitment to our customers," said Ada Booker, NAF HRO chief. "The staff goes out of their way to help people, going that extra mile. They're like family."

They also bridged the Misawa Human Resources manning shortage with zero mission degradation during Operation Tomodachi and augmented and trained the entire Osan Air Base, Korea, HRO staff.

"Our HRO team not only makes sure we get the best people, they also provide first-class support to our 600 non-appropriated fund team members," said Borgert. "We all know our HRO team is the best at what they do. It's nice to have our opinion validated by their selection as best in Air Force. It's definitely a well-deserved honor and we're proud to have the Air Force Human Resources Program of the Year."
