The Civil Air Patrol cadets of Kadena and Osan Air Base, Korea, recently took part in the 2011 Okinawa Squadron Civil Air Patrol Encampment.

This annual encampment is a week-long event which puts the cadets in a military style training environment.

Here at Kadena, members from the Explosive Ordinance Disposal, 18th Security Forces Squadron, Aircrew Flight Equipment, 18th Operations Group, Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape, and adult CAP members volunteered their time to demonstrate their jobs to the cadets.

"The cadets who come to Kadena are offered more than those who participate in the encampments in the states," said Capt. Robert Swanson, 18th Mission Support Group Air Force Auxiliary Unit deputy commander, while cadets nodded in agreement.

The CAP aims to develop character and leadership skills in the cadets while giving them a taste of drill practice and the different military programs.
