Testing is administered every Tuesday at 9 a.m. and Thursday at 3 p.m. The door closes promptly at those times so please do not be late. FY12 Officer Training School/Basic Officer Training Board schedule release The fiscal 2012 Officer Training School/Basic Officer Training Board schedule was released on July 15. All applicants are encouraged to pay close attention to the schedule. Applications with waivers now have an earlier application cut-off date. So it is very important to identify waivers and submit them on time. The schedule can be picked up at the Kadena Education Center at building 59 on the third floor. Home business owners and base organizations wanted for "Hai Sai" event The Kadena Officers' Spouses' Club is looking for any base organizations or home-based businesses who wish to participate and promote their business in the annual "Hai Sai" event on Aug. 25 at 6 p.m. Please contact Amy Dayton at secondvicepresident@kadenaosc.org as soon as possible for more details and to sign up. Road Tax due July 31 As a reminder from 18th Security Forces Squadron, all "Y-plate" Status of Forces Agreement-status vehicles must purchase a 2011 Japanese Road Tax sticker by July 31. The 2011 sticker is red in color and has the number "23" in the middle. Owners will need all original paperwork to include the vehicle title, Japanese Compulsory Insurance, Property Damage Insurance, military registration and recycling ticket. Owners can get their 2011 road tax sticker from their insurance company, one of the Joint Services Vehicle Registration Office events held at each military installation on the island, or the Okinawa Road Tax office located outside Camp Kinser's Gate 4, next to the land transportation office. For further information on updating your road tax sticker, please refer to the Camp Foster JSVRO at 645-3963/7481/4299. Displaying a non-current road tax sticker on the windshield of your vehicle is a ticketable offense, and not displaying any road tax sticker is also a separate ticketable offense. Vehicles must have current road tax paperwork and the sticker must be physically placed on the top of the front windshield in the center, near the rearview mirror. Housing office closure The Kadena Housing Office and its satellite offices, Camps Courtney, Kinser, and Foster and unaccompanied housing office, will be closed all day July 29 for an official function. Furniture Management Office appliance repair closure All Furnishing Management Warehouses sections including self-help, the furnishing repair shop and appliance repair section will close at 10:30 a.m. July 29 for an official function. NIPRNet outage All Kadena NIPRNet users Kadena will be experience intermittent NIPRNet email connectivity issues due to maintenance starting on July 30 at 7 p.m. Please save all email drafts in order to mitigate data loss. MPS closure for upcoming LORE The Military Personnel Section will provide limited services during the next local operational readiness exercise Aug. 10-12. Customer service will only provide in-processing and emergency ID cards. Relocations are serving final out appointments only. Awards and decorations will be open during normal business hours. All other sections in the MPS will be closed for the exercise. Sports team shout-out videos The 18th Wing Public Affairs office plans to record sports team video shout-outs to be played at home games for the following teams below. Service members interested in recording a video shout-out (wearing uniform of the day) can meet at the F-15 static display at Kadena Airpark near 18th Wing Headquarters from 3 to 4 p.m. Aug. 4. The teams are: Cincinnati Reds and Bengals; Washington Redskins and Jacksonville Jaguars; Mountain West NCAA Football Conference teams -TCU, Utah, San Diego State, Air Force, Brigham Young, Colorado State, UNLV, New Mexico, Wyoming; and East Carolina University Pirates. Annual sports physicals at Kadena Medical Clinic U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa and the 18th Medical Group will offer walk-in sports physicals at the Kadena Medical Group Clinic, Building 626, on Aug. 13 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The annual walk-in clinic for sports physicals is a joint effort to offer a convenient way for parents to prepare youth sports participants for the upcoming school year. The event is open to children 6-17 years old who are eligible for care at military medical facilities in Okinawa. Students need to bring all necessary forms required for each sports activity and their most up-to-date immunization record to be reviewed. All participants are required to wear athletic gear (gym shorts, t-shirt or tank top, and athletic shoes) and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All donations will be sent to Airmen deployed to Afghanistan and distributed to schools and the local national children. Helping to further the education of Afghan children helps bolster relations between U.S. forces and the people of Afghanistan. Fourth-annual Kadena Special Olympics Fill the Boot The Fire Department will be outside the Olympic and Fairchild Shoppettes on Aug. 5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for their fourth-annual Fill the Boot fundraiser for the Kadena Special Olympics. On Aug. 6-7, they will be at the Kadena Base Exchange, Commissary and both shoppettes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. SOG change of command The Air Force Special Operations Command requests the honor of your presence to attend a change of command ceremony at which Col. Robert P. Toth will relinquish command of the 353d Special Operations Group to Col. Brad M. Sullivan. Kadena High School football conditioning The Kadena High School football team is looking for volunteers who can commit to helping high school students complete their summer conditioning camp which lasts from June 20 through Aug. 10. Volunteers would be required to supervise workouts on any two days of their choice from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Monday through Thursday. This will be a great opportunity for service members to earn volunteer hours, and the coach will write letters for volunteers' military portfolios in appreciation of the help. Volunteers are influential and essential in helping to shape the future for these young athletes. We appreciate your help and support. 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony The Kadena 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony Committee is looking for anyone who may have been at Ground Zero on 9/11, either the World Trade Center or Pentagon, and is willing to share their story during the upcoming ceremony. The 10th Anniversary 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony will be held on Sept. 9 at the 18th Wing Flag Poles. The Kadena 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony Committee is also looking for National Anthem singers. Preferred candidates are experienced in singing both the Japanese and American National anthems; however, having two singers is a possibility. If interested, please send an e-mail to Master Sgt.
