The 18th Equipment Maintenance Squadron’s Nondestructive Inspection Flight, or NDI, ensures the durability of structural parts and components of aircraft and support equipment on Kadena through a series of inspections ranging from black light examinations to X-rays. Airman Grove said performing these inspections ensure the safety of every Airman who supports Kadena’s many on-going missions. “It’s a good feeling when you find a crack that could have potentially harmed an aircraft or the crew onboard,” said the Dallastown, Pa. native. “I feel like doing what I do saves lives, and that’s the most important thing.” (U.S. Air Force photo/ Airman 1st Class Maeson L.
