Nearly 120 Kadena Airmen to become senior NCOs Published June 1, 2010 By 18th Wing Public Affairs KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- More than 100 Kadena technical sergeants got some good news before Memorial Day weekend after Air Force officials released the promotion list for master sergeant May 27. There will be a promotion party held in the Airmen's honor at the Rocker Enlisted Club June 4 starting at 4:30 p.m. "Reaching the rank of master sergeant is a huge milestone in one's enlisted career," explained Chief Master Sgt. Charles Kimble, 18th Force Support Squadron's chief enlisted manager. "This rank carries significantly increased responsibilities. Our folks must continue to develop their leadership and management skills as they transition from being technical experts and front line supervisors to leaders." Air Force officials selected 5,424 of 21,829 eligible technical sergeants for promotion to master sergeant for an Air Force-wide selection rate of 24.85 percent. The selection rate for Kadena Airmen was 24.04 percent. The average cut-off score for those selected was 341.18, with an average time in grade and time in service of 4.49 and 15.88 years respectively. The average score was based on the following point averages: 134.27 for enlisted performance reports, 11.40 for decorations, 79.69 for the promotion fitness examination and 63.59 for the specialty knowledge test. The NCOs selected for master sergeant will be promoted according to their promotion sequence number beginning in August 2010.
