The Keystone of the Pacific can retain its title this week, after Pacific Air Forces officials announced that the 18th Wing not only passed its Unit Compliance Inspection, but many units exceeded the standard.

"Receiving a passing grade is no small accomplishment," said Col. Lenny Richoux, 18th Wing vice commander. "For the past eight months we have performed several self inspections and exercises. You demonstrated phenomenal attention to detail to the IG. Colonel Wilsbach, Chief Warner, and I wish to congratulate you on a job well done."

The inspection, which occurred Aug. 3-7, tested the wing in nearly every specialty and unit. Along with each of these unit-specific areas, the base was tested overall during its emergency response exercise.

"The IG pointed out a number of best practices, outstanding performers, and awarded the 18th Wing a number of individual unit excellent ratings," Colonel Richoux said.

While overall the wing passed the inspection, with many units and individuals being recognized for excellent performances, the colonel reminded Team Kadena to keep striving for more.

"You have demonstrated to yourselves and to the IG that the 18th Wing is in compliance," he said. "Let's not rest on our laurels. Take the feedback from the Inspector General's Team, and make sure that Kadena rightfully retains the reputation as the 'Keystone of the Pacific.'"
