A Kadena-based Airman was sentenced Sept. 19 to 30 months of confinement, reduction to E-1, and a dishonorable discharge after being found guilty of statutory rape at a general court-martial.

Airman 1st Class Donald R.B. Simmons was charged with the statutory rape of the 14-year-old daughter of an American family on base in January 2013 after establishing an online relationship. Simmons was also found guilty of providing alcohol to the teen and her underage friend.

The case was investigated by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, Detachment 624, on Kadena.

Service members who engage in predatory behavior by soliciting children or engaging in sexual acts with children under the age of 16 face significant consequences with a maximum punishment of a dishonorable discharge and 30 years of confinement for each violation.
