KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- Members of the 18th Wing Judge Advocate met with students from Amelia Earhart Intermediate and Stearley Heights Elementary Schools to celebrate “Law Day” May 3 and 4, 2018, at Kadena Air Base, Japan.
Law Day is a day of recognition among the legal community that encourages engagement with local communities. Each year, the theme changes dependent on the intended message; the theme for 2018 is “separation of powers.”
Students learned lessons on the three branches of the U.S. government before working in groups to create and fly a paper airplane; the “judicial branch” was responsible for relaying instructions, the “executive branch” folded the paper and the “president” enforced a series of rules put in place to prevent any one “branch” from taking over the project.
