The annual Air Force Assistance Fund campaign is now through May 3.

The AFAF campaign supports four charities that are dedicated to caring for Airmen. One of these charities is the General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation.

The LeMay foundation helps widows of all Air Force retirees, both officers and enlisted, through financial grants of assistance. These widows spend much of their lives coping with the difficulties of military life, and supporting their spouses through years of active duty.

The LeMay foundation is not interested in why help is needed, only that it is needed. Additionally, the foundation will provide assistance for as long as it is required. There are several widows who have been receiving monthly checks for more than six years.

The LeMay foundation also helps Air Force widows with a specific need, in a single disbursement. Furthermore, the foundation does not offer loans; all funds disbursed are considered grants.

The foundation helps these widows because it believes that military spouses are entitled to a decent standard of living, to live with dignity, and to be proud of their service. The foundation considers it to be a privilege to be part of this noble endeavor.
