As the eighth week of the Combined Federal Campaign kicks off, Team Kadena continues to tally up contributions, with a total of $249,707.26 raised so far.

Master Sgt. Deanna Commack, 18th Wing Judge Advocate NCO in-charge of Kadena's law center and a CFC representative for the Wing Staff Agencies, said the goal for this week is to make final contact with anyone who has a pledge card and to encourage them to give.

As the base moves towards the end of the nine-week campaign, the goal is to raise $451,000 from at least 50 percent of the contributors.

So far, only 15 percent of those contacted have contributed.

Capt. Jennifer Palko, 18th Logistic Readiness Squadron installation deployment officer and overall base CFC representative, said that it is important to donate because everyone is not able to have a steady income.

If anyone is undecided about a charity to contribute to, they can donate to the local base charity funds. At the end of each campaign, the base commander decides which programs will receive local CFC funds.

A few places the local CFC funds may be used is for health and wellness activities, such as, Give Parents a Break and the Community Center.

"Every year we should strive to donate more than the last, offer what little we can," Palko said.

People can also make a contribution to any of the 2,500 organizations at www.cfcoverseas.org.
