Security Forces tested during readiness inspection

KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- Airmen of the 18th Security Forces Squadron participate in a Pacific Air Forces Readiness Inspection, called Exercise Beverly Bearcat 12-1, to demonstrate that they are trained and equipped for real-world contingencies.

"I think (our Airmen) are well prepared (because of) internal preparations and past Local Operational Readiness Exercises," said Capt. Kristen Cangelosi, 18th SFS operations officer. "They're hungry and want to show the IG that they not only can do their job, but that they do it well. They know what our expectations are and are ready and willing to implement them."

The squadron prepared for the inspection by conducting mini exercises between the base LOREs.

Airman 1st Class Candace McCutchean, a 18th SFS response force member, said after being on island for only a month she is a little nervous because this is the first inspection she has participated in, but is confident in the training she has received while at the squadron.

The squadron gave their Airmen a hands-on training environment and different scenarios throughout the months leading up to this inspection to give them further preperation.

Staff Sgt. Nathan Wiley, 18th SFS training instructor, said he feels the airmen are doing great with this inspection, even though this maybe their first one. He said it gives them the flexibility and confidence to perform well and a better view of what to expect.

The SFS is one of the many units across the base that performs a variety of tasks on a day-to-day basis.

This inspection gives everyone the opportunity to show the inspectors the great things they do and the hard work put into their jobs.
