The Kadena Air Force Sergeants Association, Chapter 1553, earned recognition for its many community service projects earlier this year.

Recently, 20 Airmen from AFSA continued showed again why they were acknowledged for these projects.

The volunteers went to Cape Zanpa Park and collected a total of 30 bags of trash consisting of bottles, cans, trash and other combustible and non-combustible items.

The team scoured the beach and lighthouse, and also walked trails for misplaced garbage to pick up.

The project, part of AFSAs continuous community service efforts, allowed Airmen to work together on a more personal level outside of Kadena.

"I look forward to being in the Japanese community with my fellow co-workers aiming toward keeping Okinawa a beautiful place for all to enjoy," said Staff Sgt. Randi Ervine.

Their combined willingness to take an hour to work together in a different setting outside of work and clean up in the local community helped bring the AFSAs members closer together as a team.
