18th Wing IG office claims PACAF award Published April 2, 2012 By 18th Wing Public Affairs 18th Wing IG KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- The 18th Wing Inspector General office was recently recognized by Pacific Air Force headquarters for superior performance. The IG office received the John P. Flynn Award, Category 1, for 2011 by providing outstanding leadership, professional qualities, and duty performance to the largest Air Force combat wing, which includes 24,000 Airmen, Department of Defense civilians and dependents. Over the course of 2011, the 18th Wing IG provided prompt resolution to 176 individual complaints. The IG team also resolved 13 Fraud, Waste and Abuse cases, eliminating waste and saving valuable resources. Additionally, the IG team led 125 education events at commander's calls, the First Term Airmen's Center, flight commander's courses and senior NCO development seminars, culminating in more than 9,000 personnel trained. The John P. Flynn award recognizes the best Installation Complaints Resolution Program throughout the Air Force.
