One hundred Airmen and civilians from the 18th Logistics Readiness Squadron volunteered April 21, to clean up Cape Zanpa Park collecting 50 bags of trash consisting of bottles, cans and other items.

The group scoured the beach, lighthouse, and walking trails for misplaced garbage to pick up. The project, just part of the squadron's continuous community service, allowed Airmen and civilians to work together on a more personal level outside of Kadena Air Base.

"I look forward to being in the Japanese community with my fellow co-workers aiming towards keeping Okinawa a beautiful place for all to enjoy," said Tech. Sgt. Darris Wyatt.

Their combined willingness to take an hour to work together in a different setting outside of work and clean up in the local community really helped bring the squadron's local nationals and Airmen closer as a team.

The Japanese Prime Ministry's "Good Deeds Association" recently announced that the 18th LRS had earned recognition again this year because of its many community service projects.
