Enlisted leaders graduate from NCOA

KADENA AIR BASE, Japan --  Seventy students from Class 11-3 graduated from the Erwin Professional Military Educations Non Commissioned Officer Academy April 7, 2011. Class 11-3 included two NCOs from the U.S. Navy and 68 Air Force NCOs from seven diverse bases throughout the Pacific.

In addition to the rigorous lessons and extracurricular activities of Enlisted PME, this class also persevered while family and friends were impacted by Japan's worst natural disaster ever. Amazingly, all 34 students directly affected by these tragic events successfully completed the course on time and with no delays in training.

Class 11-3 also had the distinction of being the first class in the new Erwin PME Center and for their legacy project, they donated a shadow box encasing the Stars and Stripes news article with photos of the new and old centers for future students to appreciate the dedication the USAF places on enlisted PME and the investment in commits toward NCO's future development.

Additionally, Class 11-3 tackled projects such as the Chibana Golf Course Clean-up, assisted with the set-up and teardown of the wing's Deployed Spouses Dinner, participated in Bob Hope Primary School's Dr. Suess reading day and participated in Kadena's 24 hour breast cancer awareness run; all-in-all culminating in over 100 volunteer hours .

Finally, Class 11-3 raised over $2.7 thousand and more than three pallets of food and clothing for relief efforts to help aid the victims of Japan's worst natural disaster; also donating two boxes of comfort items to help aid expecting mothers evacuated from Misawa and Yokota Air Bases in Japan.

The following individuals were recognized as Award Recipients for Class 11-3.

John L. Levitow Award: an Office of Special Investigations Special Agent

Academic Award: Tech. Sgt. Marcus L. Grant, a member of the 35th Civil Engineer Group at Misawa

Commandant Award: Tech. Sgt. Jason R. Ramirez, from the 18th Civil Engineering Group

Distinguished Graduate Award: Tech. Sergeants Mark A. Diehl and Jason L. Harper, from Yokota, Tech. Sgt. Cory R. Kauffman, from the 18th Wing at Kadena and Tech. Sergeants Stephen D. Teel and Kristina M. O'Meara, from Andersen Air Force Base, Guam.
