The 18th Contracting Squadron was presented the 2010 Pacific Air Force Outstanding Large Contracting Unit Award by Brig. Gen. Ken Wilsbach, 18th Wing commander, March 21.

This award is presented to the most outstanding mission support squadron for its overall excellence during the past year and consistent performance on mission support for all of Kadena.

Attaining the Outstanding Large Contracting Unit Award represents the commitment and resilience of each of the four flights within 18th CONS, revealing their efforts for Team Kadena.

Having achieved such a milestone represents the character and teamwork this squadron possesses.

Along with being named Outstanding Large Contracting Unit, the 18th CONS had five individual award winners for "Best in PACAF" for their outstanding performance and tireless work ethic.

·Secretary of the Air Force Professionalism in Contracting (non-supervisory): Martin J. Hansen
·Outstanding Contracting Noncommissioned Officer: Tech. Sgt. Connor Murray
·Outstanding Civilian Local National: Ken Kuresaki
·Outstanding Pricing: Angela Harris
·Professional Courage: Nick Higashihirashi

Not only was the 18th CONS recognized for individual awards, but PACAF recognized two flights for their team effort and commitment to excellence.

·Special Recognition to Post Acquisition Improvement Program Team
·Outstanding Performance in a Source Selection to the Infrastructure Acquisition (LGCC) Flight

"Fiscal Year 2010 was a particularly challenging year that 18th CONS rose to meet at every turn. The recognition of our PACAF level awards by the Wing commander illustrates this and proves that when it comes to fiscal year 2010, we knocked it out of the park," said Senior Airman George Halley, a contract administrator with 18th CONS.
