The military has designated April as the Month of the Military Child, making it an excellent time recognize the sacrifices our children make in our community.

With more than 7,500 service members assigned to Kadena and a base population of more than 20,000 people, as a military community there is a responsibility to help ensure children from military families have a safe and nurturing environment in which to grow.

Additional support is often needed for military children because they often face additional stress related to deployments and time spent with a parent away from home.

The Family Advocacy Program at Kadena can help with many of these additional stressors. They also promote child safety and development through direct services to families in emergencies as well as through outreach and prevention efforts directed towards all families and children on Okinawa.
