Kadena Airmen are participating in Beverly High 11-03, a local operational readiness exercise, this week.

During the LORE, units from across the base are presented with scenarios to help Airmen in different career fields perfect their abilities to react and respond to different situations and emergencies.

Scenarios include simulated missile and mortar attacks, chemical attacks and mass deployments.

While participating in the week-long exercise, units will work together to establish better communication and cohesion within units and with others.

"Airmen are evaluated through every stage of the deployment cycle," said Capt. Richard Ward, 18th Wing Plans and Programs exercise chief. "Starting with readiness, and continuing with combat operations in the area of responsibility, Airmen prove their warrior ethos and ability to operate under any condition, no matter how adverse."

Many Airmen play in the exercise as simulated deployers, and others work within their units to help complete mission requirements.

For example, members of the 18th Munitions Squadron participated in Ability to Survive and Operate procedures, post attack reconnaissance (PAR) sweeps, and various Self Aid Buddy Care scenarios.

"Our most significant, and ultimately most important scenarios would definitely be our flight line generation, and our Bomb Build operations," said Staff Sgt. Jonathan Marshall, 18th MUNS exercise evaluation team member. "Flight line generation included missile support and countermeasure support, and also our Bomb Building operations."

Along with the 18th MUNS, Airmen from the 18th Security Forces Squadron to the 44th Air Maintenance Squadron play their parts.

"We are becoming more combat capable and ready to execute whatever mission this wing is tasked with," said Captain Ward. "This is not just an exercise. This is about honing the 18th Wing's combat capability. If we are called on at any point, to serve our country in that capacity, we are ready to execute."
