Announcements typically run for two weeks beginning two weeks prior to an event. Submissions must be received by 5 p.m. Tuesday to be included in the weekly bulletin email sent on Wednesday.

Postal Advisory
Postal Advisory: While using the Free Military Postal Service (MPS) in the Pacific, Europe and Middle East, service members cannot use USPS Priority/Express boxes going to any APO zip codes. It is prohibited to wrap USPS Priority boxes in brown paper and/or turning it inside out to send items to an APO address. Postal customers can mail parcels up to 70 pounds free to any APO/FPO in Europe and Pacific excluding Hawaii, Guam, and Alaska, using regular brown boxes and not USPS Priority boxes.

Kadena Housing FMO superintendent needed
Kadena's Housing Support Element is looking for a Master Sergeant to immediately fill the superintendent position.

Applicants must be a Master Sgt., or Master Sgt. select and have a minimum of one year experience as a supervisor, possess leadership and mentorship capability. Must be clear of any disciplinary actions or financial irresponsibility. Applicants must possess ability to speak distinctly and to all levels of rank, possess high standards of military appearance and conduct, have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, supply and accounting, facility maintenance procedures and management of personnel. You must have nine months remaining on your DEROS and not receiving payment from a selective reenlistment bonus. This is a two-year controlled, non-deployable tour.

Honor Guard Training Flight
Kadena Honor Guard is glad to announce that Orientation for the next Honor Guard Training Flight (T-Flight) will be held at the McDaniel Center, March 16 at 3:30 p.m. T-Flight will commence the day following, from March 17-30. We're excited about training motivated Airmen as potential new members. Show Team Kadena what you're made of.

18th Munitions inventory
The 18th Munitions Squadron Storage Area will conduct a 100 percent Munitions Inventory March 7-18. Emergency issues will be the only transactions processed during this time frame.

Claims against the estate of Airman 1st Class Derek V. Kozorosky
All persons having claims for or against Airman 1st Class Kozorosky need to present such clams to Capt. Michael Nordin by March 25. An example of a claim against Airman Kozoroksy would be any debt, obligation, or other money owed to you by Airman Kozorosky. An example of a claim for Airman Kozorosky would be any debt, obligation, borrowed property, or other money owed to Airman Kozorosky by you.

Airmen Dorm Leaders Needed
Kadena Unaccompanied Housing is still looking for five staff sergeants and one technical sergeant to immediately fill vacant Airmen Dorm Leader positions (Dorm Managers).

Applicants must possess ranks of technical and staff sergeant, have a minimum of one year experience as a supervisor, possess leadership and mentorship capability, and not have any record of emotional instability, disciplinary actions, or financial irresponsibility. Applicants must possess ability to speak distinctly and to all levels of rank, possess high standards of military appearance and conduct, have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, supply, accounting, facility maintenance procedures and management of personnel. You must have nine months remaining on your DEROS and not receiving payment from an SRB. This is a two-year controlled non-deployable tour.

18th Medical Group closure
The 18th MDG will be closed March 17 from 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for readiness training.
In case of emergency, please call 911 on-base, 119 off-base, 098-934-5911 from a cell phone, or go directly to the U.S. Naval Hospital Emergency Department. For after hours acute medical or dental needs, for medical, please call the Okinawa Clinical Answering Service (OCAS) at 643-4245, or 098-970-5555 then dial 643-4245 (off base or using cell phone), and for dental, call the provider on call at 080-2721-0412 or 639-2324.

Education Center News
The monthly Commissioning Briefings conducted at building 59, Education Center, will be on the first Thursday each month at 2 p.m. This month's briefing is on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at 2 p.m. The following month's is on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 2 p.m. Please, note this is a new time per student requests. All interested Airmen who have completed five skill levels are encouraged to attend. Airmen must have completed half of their overseas tour before applying, have their commanders' recommendation and meet other age and academic criteria. For more details, please schedule to attend the briefing.

Finance Info
Effective March 8, 2011 all CED Travel Orders created after that date will be input into DTS. Please get in contact with your Unit Deployment Management or unit ODTA if you have any questions. There will be more information and training announcements to follow.

Please ensure you are reviewing your Leave and earning Statements monthly to ensure that your entitlements are reported correctly and you are paid properly.

New MPS hours
Effective March 13, the MPS will have new hours:

On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday walk-in hours will be from 8 a.m. to noon, and appointment only hours will be from 2-4:30 p.m. For Customer Service, all CAC card issuing will be by appointment only for the entire day
regardless if during walk-in hours or appointment only hours.

For all other services within Customer Service, they will be walk-ins for the entire day regardless if during walk-in hours or appointment only hours:

On Wednesday walk-in hours will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to include CAC issuing. Additionally, on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month, walk-ins, to include CAC issuing, will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

2011-2012 General Henry H. Arnold Education Grant
Time's running out to apply for the 2011-2012 General Henry H. Arnold Education Grant. The application deadline is March 11. You can get the application from the Air Force Aid Society's web site at www.afas.org. Just look under Education and Arnold Grant. Fill out the application, print it, attach required documents, and put it in the mail today.

Don't pass up this chance to help pay for your family's education with a $2,000 grant!

Kadena Commissary Closures
The Kadena Commissary will be closed March 8-9 for annual Inventory, and will re-open March 10 for regular hours.

AFRC Spring Job Fair
The Airman and Family Readiness Center holds its Spring 2011 Job Fair 29 March from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Schilling Community Center ballroom.  This event is open to all SOFA-status personnel.  People will be able to speak with local employers and agencies.  People are also encouraged to bring their resumes as there will be employment, volunteer, education and networking opportunities.  For more information, call 634-3366.

Wired Bean Pancake Dinner
The Kadena Catholic Parish is sponsoring a free pancake dinner at the Wired Bean in celebration of Fat Tuesday March 8 from 5-7 p.m. This meal is open to Airmen and families both civilian and military.

General Wilsbach launching Red Cross Month
General Wilsbach will be an honored guest at a ceremony launching Red Cross Month, March 7 at noon. As March is Red Cross Month, Kadena is kicking it off with a celebration by having a cake cutting at the Kadena AB BX.

General Wilsbach will be cutting the cake around 12:10 p.m. and refreshments will be served from then until they are all gone. Information about Red Cross services will be available as well.

Ash Wednesday Mass
The Kadena Catholic Parish is hosting Ash Wednesday Mass March 9 at 7 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. at Chapel 1.

Team Impact is coming to Okinawa to perform superhuman feats of strength March 10 at 7 a.m. At the Rocker NCO Club for the Kadena Air Base National Prayer Breakfast. Tickets are $5 and include a delicious breakfast along with a great performance by Team Impact. Tickets can be purchased at Chapel 2 or from your First Sergeant.

A Family Reading Night/ Dr. Seuss Birthday Celebration is scheduled March 10 from 5-6:30 p.m. in the Bob Hope Primary School cafeteria. There will be Dr. Seuss' books readings and craft stations set up for each book. There will also be a big birthday cake and lots of fun.

AFRC basic computer/ customer relations course
The Kadena Airman and Family Readiness Center with the financial assistance of the Air Force Aid Society and course development of the Kadena Team Services University is proud to announce a free basic computer/ customer relations course for spouses of active duty Air Force members.

The class provides a total of 30 hours of job skills training in Microsoft Office products to include Word 2007, Excel 2007, PowerPoint and Office 2007 basics. This course will also highlight Customer Relations skills in which students will learn effective complaint handling and how to apply effective conflict resolution skills. Also included is training on Teamwork, Professionalism, and Total Quality service. There is very limited space available.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Basketball and cheerleading coaches needed
Kadena Youth Sports and Fitness is looking for volunteer coaches for their upcoming basketball and cheerleading season. Basketball age divisions include 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-15 Girls. Cheerleading age divisions include 5-6, 7-8, and 9-11. The season begins March 21 and runs until May 28.

Volunteers are needed for the DoDDS Okinawa District Science Fair at the Schilling Community Center March 24 for Grades 6 to 12, and March 25 for elementary school students.

U.S. Consulate looking for English-speaking volunteers
The US Consulate is looking for a volunteer to read English story books to children at the Urasoe Public Library. The commitment is the first Tuesday of every month from 4-5 p.m.

Kadena Base Chapel AWANA
Kadena's Base Chapel Protestant Community needs volunteers to help with their AWANA program Sundays from 3- 5 p.m. This is a bible-based program for children between the ages of 3 years up to 12 years old. The program runs during the school year. A background check will be performed and you will be shown how to help in the age group you prefer.

Amelia Earhart Intermediate School tutoring opportunity
Amelia Earhart Intermediate School (3rd - 5th grade) is continuously looking for volunteer tutors for a tutoring program which started this past November. Tutors are needed from 8-8:40 a.m. and 3:10-4:10 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
