NOTICES

New MPS hours
Effective March 13, the MPS will have new hours:

On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday walk-in hours will be from 8 a.m. to noon, and appointment only hours will be from 2-4:30 p.m. For Customer Service, all CAC card issuing will be by appointment only for the entire day
regardless if during walk-in hours or appointment only hours.

For all other services within Customer Service, they will be walk-ins for the entire day regardless if during walk-in hours or appointment only hours:

On Wednesday walk-in hours will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to include CAC issuing. Additionally, on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month, walk-ins, to include CAC issuing, will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Kadena Eagle hardware store closure
The Kadena Eagle hardware store will be closed Feb. 28 through March 4 in order to repair the fire suppression system. The self help stores on Camp Foster, Camp Courtney and Camp Kinser will be open to service your needs.

Kadena Base Library closure
The Kadena Base Library will be closed Feb. 20 for the Okinawa Marathon and Feb. 21 in observance of President's Day.

Post office closure
The Kadena post office and official mail center will be closed Feb. 21 in observance of President's Day. All postal operations will resume Feb. 22.

718th CES GeoBase Shop maps
Need a map? The 718th CES GeoBase Shop can fill your needs for GeoBase mapping, GPS survey, As-built requests, and basic floor plans. We can provided hard copies and/ or electronic files (CAD, JPEG, PDF format).

Just visit https://kadena_geobase/ to view the main homepage for Kadena GeoBase.

On the left hand side, click "work request" and fill in the necessary data. An e-mail will be sent to the requester for updates (in-progress, on hold, completed). Once a "completed" e-mail is sent, please come to Bldg 250 and come pick-up your product.

GeoBase Shop closure
Effective this week, the 718th CES GeoBase Shop will be closed every Wednesday, from 1-4:30 p.m. for official training. You can still request maps, surveys, As-built, and floor plans by visiting https://kadena_geobase/.

Claims against the estate of Tech. Sgt. Curtis E. Eccleston
All persons having claims against Tech. Sgt. Eccleston, need to present such clams to Capt. Michael E. Martínez by March 4. An example of a claim would be any debt, obligation, or other money owed to you by Sergeant Eccleston.

2011-2012 General Henry H. Aronald Education Grant
Time's running out to apply for the 2011-2012 General Henry H. Aronald Education Grant. The application deadline is March 11. You can get the application from the Air Force Aid Society's web site at www.afas.org. Just look under Education and Arnold Grant. Fill out the application, print it, attach required documents, and put it in the mail today.

Don't pass up this chance to help pay for your family's education with a $2,000 grant!

Kadena Commissary Closures
The Kadena Commissary will be closed March 8-9 for annual Inventory, and will re-open March 10 for regular hours.

18th Comptroller Squadron closure
18 CPTS will be closed Feb. 18 from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in support of the 18th Wing Wingman Day. Any customer requiring immediate emergency assistance at this time should contact Master Sgt. Bumgardner at 090-8293-7957.

Cryogenic facility resumes normal service hours
The Cryogenic facility is now resuming normal service hours. Customer service hours will be from 8-10 a.m. and from 8-10 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Changes to AFRC pre/ post-deployment briefings
The Airman and Family Readiness Center has made a few changes to the location of the pre-/ post- deployment briefings. Pre-deployment briefings will be held every Monday at 8:30 a.m. in the Airman and Family Readiness Center or building 220. Post-deployment briefings will be held every Tuesday and Thursday at 8 a.m. in building 721-B (FSS), on the second floor, in the training room. Spouses are highly encouraged to attend!

CCAF spring graduation cut-off date
The cut-off date for submitting official transcripts and training documents for the April 2011 CCAF graduation class is Feb. 25.

Family Reading Night/ Dr. Seuss Birthday Celebration
A Family Reading Night/ Dr. Seuss Birthday Celebration is scheduled March 10 from 5-6:30 p.m. in the Bob Hope Primary School cafeteria. There will be Dr. Seuss' books readings and craft stations set up for each book. There will also be a big birthday cake and lots of fun.

Deployed Spouses Dinner
The monthly Deployed Spouses Dinner is the third Saturday of every month at the Schilling Community Center. This month's dinner will be Feb. 19 at 6 p.m. in the Schilling Ballroom. The dinner is open to all spouses and children of a deployed or TDY service member. Childcare is available on-site. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. at the door.

Men Who Cook 10th-annual scholarship fundraiser
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will hold its 10th-annual scholarship fundraiser, Men Who Cook, at Ryukyu Middle School April 9 at 5 p.m.

Male chefs will present their best dishes in Okinawa's ultimate cook-off showdown. We are looking for a few good men - chefs are needed!

AFRC basic computer/ customer relations course
The Kadena Airman and Family Readiness Center with the financial assistance of the Air Force Aid Society and course development of the Kadena Team Services University is proud to announce a free basic computer/ customer relations course for spouses of active duty Air Force members.

The class provides a total of 30 hours of job skills training in Microsoft Office products to include Word 2007, Excel 2007, PowerPoint and Office 2007 basics. This course will also highlight Customer Relations skills in which students will learn effective complaint handling and how to apply effective conflict resolution skills. Also included is training on Teamwork, Professionalism, and Total Quality service. There is very limited space available.

Team Impact performance
Team Impact is coming to Okinawa to perform superhuman feats of strength March 10 at 7 a.m. at the Rocker NCO Club for the Kadena AB National Prayer Breakfast. Tickets are $5.00 and include a delicious breakfast along with a great performance by Team Impact. Tickets can be purchased at Chapel 2 or from your First Sergeant.

Community Choir
The Kadena chapel is organizing a Community Choir to perform during the National Prayer Breakfast March 10 at 7 a.m. at the Rocker NCO Club. Practices will be from 7-7:30 a.m. Feb. 24 and March 8 at Chapel 3. Everyone is welcome to sing!

Hazardous Waste Accumulation Point Manager's Training
A Hazardous Waste Accumulation Point Manager's Training course will be held Feb. 22 at the Environmental office, Bldg 3621. The Japanese Hazardous Waste Accumulation Point Manager's Training course will be held Feb. 24. Registration begins at 7 a.m. on the day of the class. Course hours will be between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Admission to the class for Primary and Alternate Accumulation Point Managers or Unit Environmental Coordinators requires a copy of current appointment letters. Unit supervisors who are required to attend but are not active in the management of the accumulation point and personnel taking the class for familiarization may attend without documentation.

Mandatory LORE briefings
Mandatory LORE briefings will be held at the Keystone Theater Feb. 17 at 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. On Feb. 18, briefings will be at 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. All 18 WG personnel are required to attend one of these briefings.

GPC training
The 18th Contracting Squadron is hosting Government Purchase Card training Feb. 18 from 8 a.m. to noon at the NCO Academy, Building 719, Erwin PME Center Auditorium. Reservations are required by Feb 11.

Company Grade Officers' Council bake sale
The Kadena Company Grade Officers' Council will host a bake sale at the Kadena Base Exchange from noon to 3 p.m. Feb. 12. Proceeds will support a Kadena CGOC sponsored JROTC Scholarship awarded to a Kadena High School student.

Airmen Committed to Excellence monthly meeting
Airmen Committed to Excellence (ACE) will host its monthly meeting at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 17 at the Banyan Tree Club. Please come ready to share your ideas, prepare for future events, be informed about volunteer opportunities, gain knowledge and meet other airmen that are ready to excel.

HAWC cooking Demo
Kadena's Health and Wellness Center (HAWC) will be conducting a cooking demo March 8 at 5p.m. It is geared toward healthy cooking for singles. This will take place at Dorm 145, located just past the Marshall Dining Facility. The event is open to all dorm residents, as well as any single military member. Space is limited, so please sign up in advance. Participants can register in person or via phone.

Basketball and cheerleading coaches needed
Kadena Youth Sports and Fitness is looking for volunteer coaches for their upcoming basketball and cheerleading season. Basketball age divisions include 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-15 Girls. Cheerleading age divisions include 5-6, 7-8, and 9-11. The season begins March 21 and runs until May 28.

Science Fair
Volunteers are needed for the DoDDS Okinawa District Science Fair at the Schilling Community Center March 24 for Grades 6 to 12, and March 25 for elementary school students.

U.S. Consulate looking for English-speaking volunteers
The US Consulate is looking for a volunteer to read English storybooks to children at the Urasoe Public Library. The commitment is the first Tuesday of every month from 4-5 p.m.

Kadena Base Chapel AWANA
Kadena's Base Chapel Protestant Community needs volunteers to help with their AWANA program Sundays from 3- 5 p.m. This is a bible-based program for children between the ages of 3 years up to 12 years old. The program runs during the school year. A background check will be performed and you will be shown how to help in the age group you prefer.

Amelia Earhart Intermediate School tutoring opportunity
Amelia Earhart Intermediate School (3rd - 5th grade) is continuously looking for volunteer tutors for a tutoring program which started this past November. Tutors are needed from 8-8:40 a.m. and 3:10-4:10 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
