Wallace 18th Wing Public Affairs KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- More than 4,800 people celebrated the holiday season at Tinsel Town, Dec. 4. Tinsel Town, which began with a holiday parade welcoming Santa Claus to the festivities, is an annual event on Kadena. Tinsel Town included many attractions for children including bouncers, a merry-go-round, train rides, and a chance for kids to meet Santa Claus. There were also performances from T-da Hip Hop dancers, the III MEF Band and the Kadena High School Jazz Band throughout the day. One highlight of this year's Tinsel Town was Brig. Gen. Ken Wilsbach, 18th Wing commander, lighting the base Christmas tree. He also announced the winners of the greeting card and holiday float contests and presented the winners with a check. Joe Kahlbaugh won first place for his holiday float and the 718th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron won first place in the greeting card competition. Click here to see the photo slideshow of the event.
