This year, so many people wanted to celebrate the Air Force's 63rd birthday that the party had to be held in two of Kadena's largest venues at the same time.

Hundreds of servicemembers, families and local residents islandwide packed into the Rocker NCO Club and Officers Club to commemorate the occassion Sept. 18. The 18th Wing commander lauded the event's organizers for a memorable night.

"Senior Master Sgt. Valerie Bell and her team did an amazing job conducting the ball in two locations simultaneously," exclaimed Brig. Gen. Ken Wilsbach, 18th Wing commander.

Some of the highlights of this year's ball included motivational speaker Dan Clark, a personal letter to Kadena servicemembers from former President George W. Bush, a cake cutting ceremony with the lowest ranking Airman in attendance, and a review of the symbolic meaning of the Air Force logo.

"We also want to thank our guest speaker Dan Clark for his phenomenal and inspiring words," said General Wilsbach.
