Kadena back to school traffic Published Aug. 27, 2010 By 18th Wing Public Affairs KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- Starting Monday, students will head back to their Kadena classrooms for the start of another school year. In preparation for this, the 18th Security Forces Squadron would like to remind everyone that safety is the standard. Gate 5 will be open for school-related traffic 0615 - 0845 & 1315 - 1645 on school days. In addition, the 18 SFS will be increasing the frequency of their patrols in and around school zones and wants to make sure the message is clear and understood by all: put your cell phone down when you are driving and observe traffic signs and road conditions. Additional 18 SFS personnel will be on patrol with the objective of identifying and taking enforcement action against motor vehicle operators and bicyclists who commit traffic violations which place themselves, other motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians at risk. The 18 SFS is committed to improving traffic safety in our community by increasing compliance with traffic laws through education and enforcement. Although law enforcement efforts are an important part of public safety, we rely heavily on the cooperation of the public to be aware of and to follow all traffic laws, whether as a pedestrian, bicyclist or motorist. Please remember to drive safely and to "buckle up." With everyone's help, we can make this year at the Kadena schools a safe one.
