NOTICES

Kentucky income tax exemption
The state of Kentucky passed a law to exempt military pay from state income tax effective Jan. 1, 2010. No action is required on the member's part; DFAS is taking action to stop SITW deductions from Kentucky resident's pay checks. DFAS will begin refunding monthly SITW deductions for Kentucky residents in coming paychecks. Unfortunately, DFAS is unable to refund SITW deductions for January and February 2010, since they have already been disbursed to the state of Kentucky. Therefore, In order to obtain a refund of SITW for January and February, members must file a 2010 Kentucky state income tax return.
