BX parking lot construction progressing

KADENA AIR BASE, Japan --  The days of circling the BX parking lot repeatedly, looking for a parking spot are nearing the end. A new section right in front of the store opened up June 26, alleviating much of the congestion, and more relief is on the way.

A section of parking next to the Pentagon Federal Credit Union is expected to be turned over July 6, contingent upon continued good weather.

The final phase of the project -- the south zone of the parking lot -- is currently scheduled to be completed and turned over around July 30 if weather conditions remain favorable.

In addition to the parking lot itself, the renovation project includes the installation of new sidewalks near the commissary, retractable bollards, concrete bollards, landscaping, and a new traffic sign.
