DoDDS issues bus pass guidance for coming school year Published June 29, 2010 By Okinawa Student Transportation Office KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- Department of Defense Dependent Schools officials are asking parents to take the time to re-register their student with their respective schools and then to register with the Transportation Office. Nearly 85% of our student population has been registered thus far, and DoDDS officials are making a final push. Most student bus passes will be mailed to students' PSC address and in some cases will be issued at the Transportation Office. Students should expect to receive their bus pass within the first two weeks of August. If students have not received their bus pass within one week prior to the start of school, parents should call the Kadena STO at 632-9034/9035 or the Camp Foster STO at 645-7820, or send an email to Okin-Sto@pac.dodea.edu . New bus passes will only be issued to the following students: - All bus riders that are affected by route changes - 5th graders going to middle school (If quarters are not in the middle school walking zone) - Lester Middle School/Ryukyu Middle School 8th graders going to Kubasaki High School - Non-bus riders becoming riders - Kindergarteners becoming 1st graders - New arrivals A photo of each student is required for the issuance of a bus pass. Yearbook photos may be extracted from the school data base when available. All other students may have a photo taken at our office or may send a passport size photo via e-mail. Students may also apply for free or reduced lunches at either the Kadena or Foster transportation offices.
