Red Cross, Airman and Family Readiness Center combining forces Published May 26, 2010 By Tech. Sgt. Rey Ramon 18th Wing Public Affairs KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- Two agencies will come together under one roof June 1 to provide better assistance for servicemembers and their families. The American Red Cross and the Airman and Family Readiness Center will be co-located in Building 220. "This consolidation provides visibility to a myriad of services offered to customers," says Chief Master Sgt. Kyle Clement, 18th Force Support Squadron chief enlisted manager. This one-stop community center offers casualty assistance, military family life consultants, Veterans Assistance, volunteer opportunities, training, emergency message service and a whole lot more. "I think both agencies will be able to mesh their resources and help the servicemember and their families to provide better assistance," said Sandy Chambers, American Red Cross station manager. Combining these two agencies comes with multiple benefits for the customer, according to Maj. Chris Hauver, 18th FSS operations officer. "This is a win, win for our customers," said Maj. Hauver. "The main drive behind the consolidation is having a customer friendly service for our servicemembers and their families. When a customer needs those agencies and their services, they are all there.
