As heavy rains continue fall over Okinawa, 18th Wing officials are urging all personnel to be mindful of Mother Nature, especially on the roads.

Heavy rains are creating difficult driving conditions on and off-base, with pools of water forming in low-lying areas and visibility significantly reduced. Officials are urging all motorists to:

- Plan ahead and allow for more travel time
- Slow down - roads are slick and hydroplaning is a real possibility
- If you see a pool of standing water on the road, don't drive through it; drive around it if possible or choose another route. If you drive through it, you not only risk your vehicle, but the safety of all those inside
- Watch out for spray from other traffic on the road, especially large trucks
- Keep your headlights on
- Watch out for predestrians
- Use good ORM and arrive alive
