Vet clinic relocates Published March 2, 2010 KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- The Okinawa Veterinary Treatment Facility (VTF) in Bldg. 731 on Kadena, will undergo renovations starting March 8. In lieu of these renovations, the clinic will close March 8 -12 in order to relocate to Bldg. 224, the old concessionaire mall across from the Risner Gym, where they will operate on a temporary basis. Vaccine and health certificate appointments will only be taken for the initial two weeks following the move. While the move is temporary, people should be mindful that the clinic may not be able to offer a complete range of services; however, clinic officials will attempt to continue working from their normal schedule but with a few modifications. The schedule will be modified on a weekly basis to offer more services. Starting March 6, the vaccination clinic will offer vaccinations on a first-come-first-serve basis for adult pets only in the current facility (Bldg. 731). Sign up starts at 7:30 a.m. Emergency services will not be provided while housed in the temporary facility. Pet owners should go to the nearest off-base veterinary clinic for emergencies. A list of clinics in the area can be found in the veterinary welcome packet at (http://kadenaforcesupport.com/vetweb/index.htm). According to veterinary clinic officials construction of the new facility will be completed by February 2011. This construction project will ultimately result in a modernized clinic with additional exam rooms, expanded treatment space, and a state of the art surgical suite.
