Pentagon officials announced today that Chief Master Sgt. Michael Warner, 18th Wing command chief, is to become the next command chief at 11th Air Force at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska.

The Warner family will report to their next assignment later this year.

The chief arrived here in Dec. 2008 and has been the principal enlisted advisor to two wing commanders. This will be the chief's third billet as a unit's command chief, having already served as the top enlisted Airman at RAF Mildenhall, United Kingdom, before coming to Kadena.

The mission of 11th AF, part of the U.S. Alaskan Command, is to provide ready warriors and infrastructure for homeland defense, decisive force projection and aerospace command and control. Elmendorf, Eielson Air Force Base and Fort Richardson make up the primary military installations in Alaska.
