A former NFL player, a champion power lifter and a two-time Olympic bobsledder turned professional wrestler brought their unique brand of ministry to the National Prayer Breakfast Jan. 12 at the Rocker NCO club.

About 350 people turned out for the breakfast, where they saw the men, members of a group called Team Impact, break baseball bats, tear phone books apart, bend steel rods and roll a frying pan like a tortilla. The members of Team Impact use these feats of strength to communicate about their faith in a creative way that engages their audiences around the world.

Colonel Clifton Perry, 18th Wing Chaplain, helped bring the group to Kadena. According to the colonel, Team Impact's high-energy performances combined with its positive message appeals to young and old alike, even those who don't normally attend church.

For those who missed the prayer breakfast or who want to see more of Team Impact, the group will be hosting a full performance Wednesday, Jan. 13 at the Keystone Theater starting at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to all military and civilian personnel on island.
