U.S. military members involved in on-base vehicle accident

KADENA AIR BASE, Japan --  One servicemember was killed and four others injured after a 3-vehicle accident here around 12:20 p.m. today. The deceased member's name is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.

The injured were transported to Camp Lester Naval Hospital for medical treatment.

"We are extremely saddened by the loss of a fellow servicemember," said Brig. Gen. Ken Wilsbach, 18th Wing commander. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the individual's family and friends at this time."

The accident is currently under investigation. More information will be released as it becomes available.
