Kadena fatality identified Published Oct. 3, 2009 By 18th Wing Public Affairs KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- Airman 1st Class Rodolfo Garza, assigned the 18th Equipment Maintenance Squadron, died Saturday near Maeda Point, a local Okinawa dive and snorkeling area. The body of the 21-year-old Airman was recovered from the water Sunday at about 8:30 a.m. by members of the Japanese coast guard. "I am deeply saddened that we have lost a valuable member of our team," said Brig. Gen. Kenneth Wilsbach, 18th Wing commander. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Airman Garza." The exact cause of the accident is under investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available.
