378 Kadena Airmen tapped for E-5 Published Aug. 20, 2009 By 18th Wing Public Affairs KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- "A person is not promoted for what they've done, but for what's now expected of them." Close to 400 Kadena Airman received the good news at 10 p.m. local time Aug. 20, that the Air Force is now going to be expecting more from them after Air Force Personnel Center officials released the 2009 E-5 promotion results. Throughout the Air Force, 15,223 of 30,574 eligible senior airmen were selected for promotion to staff sergeant for a selection rate of 49.79 percent. Kadena had 378 of its E-4s selected. The average score for those selected was 275.81, with an average time in grade and time in service of 2.09 and 4.69 years, respectively. The average score was based on the following point averages: 131.57 for enlisted performance reports, 59.01 for the promotion fitness exam, 58.5 for the specialty knowledge test, 18.3 for time in grade, 11.47 for time in service and 0.94 for decorations. In order to celebrate this milestone for the selected Airmen, and this achievement by their peers, supervisors and families who helped get them there, there will be a celebration starting at 4:30 p.m. at the Rocker NCO Club tonight.
