Chapel conducts Global Ministry Survey Published Nov. 13, 2008 By Staff Sgt. Angelique Perez 18th Wing Public Affairs KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- A Global Ministry Survey conducted by the Kadena Chapel began Oct. 1 and will end January 2009. The survey is open to the entire Kadena Air Base community and is used to identify emerging community needs, validate ministry requirements and receive feedback for prioritizing ministry resources. "One of the core chapel missions is to take care of the spiritual needs of the community," said Chaplain (Col.) Clifton Perry. "The chapel wants to know what programs the community would like to see offered. For example, more evening worship opportunities, lunch-time Bible studies, marriage enrichment events and parenting classes." Feedback from the survey is used to help chapel staff allocate manpower and resources to areas that need it the most. "It [the survey] provides an instrument to voice your spiritual needs. If your needs are being met at the chapel or an off base church, temple, mosque, or worshipping community, that's great, tell us," Chaplain Perry said, "If not, the benefit of the survey is to let chapel leadership know your needs and impressions of current programs and offer feedback." The Chief of Chaplains' number one priority for the Chaplain Service is warrior care. This is attained by taking care of marriages, strengthening families and helping singles build a foundation of faith to stand upon when they deploy. "We need the strategic planning principles gleaned from global ministry surveys such as this one to empower chapel teams in order to do higher priority ministry," said Chaplain Perry. The survey is conducted every 12-18 months and is anonymous, It does however collect demographic information such as branch of service, duty status, whether participants are active-duty, civilians or dependants.
