Typhoon Sinlaku Update

Typhoon Sinlaku has weakened significantly and is barely maintaining typhoon strength. As such, the 18th Wing commander has directed TCCOR 4 for all installations on Okinawa. The closest point of approach for Kadena is now 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Maximum winds expected on Okinawa based on this forecast will be 25 knots with gusts of 35 knots. Okinawa will likely see thunderstorms through Wednesday with breezy conditions.

Kadena has received about 4 inches of rain from the storm and can expect an additional 2 to 4 inches as the typhoon passes to our north, with higher amounts possible in local areas.
