The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Oceanic, recently announced a voluntary recall of the DX type regulator first stages. T

here have been no injuries or deaths in conjunction with this recall. Oceanic has contacted all registered owners of this regulator.

Consumers are advised to stop using this product immediately unless otherwise instructed. The voluntary recall was issued due to a specific batch of high pressure seats that contained material that can deteriorate and fail to properly perform. This malfunction may result in an uncontrollable free flow which could cause serious injury to or death of the user, if not corrected.

Oceanic has created a data base on the Oceanic web site, www.oceanicworldwide.com, that product owners and retailers can easily access to determine whether a specific first stage is affected.

For local product owners here on Okinawa, the Kadena Marina also offers their expertise in determining whether your product needs a replacement part. Whether you purchased the product from the Kadena Marina or other Oceanic distributors, the Kadena Marina is your stop for information and repair.

If you have an affected unit, discontinue using and take it to the Kadena Marina, an authorized Oceanic Service Center, for a component retrofit at no charge. Please note that only authorized Oceanic dealers and their trained service technicians can perform this retrofit. Do not try to perform maintenance yourself. This may result in voiding product warranty and will render your product dangerously unsafe for SCUBA use.

Contact Clif Portell, Scuba Rental and Maintenance Supervisor at the Kadena Marina for additional details on this voluntary recall.
