Ten Kadena senior master sergeants were selected for promotion to the Air Force's top enlisted grade Nov. 14.

The 10 were part of 416 selected from 2,476 eligible senior NCOs for a 16.80 percent select rate. By law only the top one percent of the enlisted corps is promoted to chief master sergeant.

Members of the Kadena Chief's Group congratulated the new chief-selects at their place of work the next day. The new chief-selects were also treated to breakfast Nov. 16 with Brig. Gen. Brett Williams, 18th Wing commander, several group commanders, and members of the Chief's Group. The same afternoon the new chief-selects attended the base-wide Ice Breaker at the Kadena Officer's Club. The event was hosted by General Williams and Chief Master Sgt.
