Okinawa business leaders visit Kadena
Okinawa business leaders get a close-up look at a U.S. Army Patriot battery system at Kadena Air Base, Japan, during a community relations tour July 16. Army Pfc. Matthew Shoemaker, left, explained to the visitors the capabilities of the Army’s PAC-3 Engagement Control System operated by the 1-1 Air Defense Artillery Battalion, an associate unit at Kadena. Keiko Toma, center, of the 18th Wing Public Affairs Office, translates for the guests. This tour was part of the base’s co-commanders program in which senior leaders on Kadena are paired with local community leaders. The program objective is to foster close relationships between the base and local communities, while promoting a better understanding of Kadena’s mission. Kadena’s leaders also gain insight into Okinawa public perspectives regarding U.S. and Air Force forces on Okinawa. (U.S. Air Force/Senior Airman Darnell T. Cannady)
