2016 Road Tax collections begin in May Published April 6, 2016 By 18th Wing Public Affairs 18th Wing Public Affairs KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- Officials from the Joint Service Vehicle Registration Office will be collecting the annual road tax payment at Kadena's Keystone Theater. Service members, civilians and other status of forces agreement personnel can pay the annual road tax for their personal vehicles from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 9-13 at the Keystone Theater here. Bring your vehicle paperwork packets to receive the 2016 road tax receipt and decal. The required documents for the packets are military registration, 2015 road tax receipt, vehicle title, Japanese compulsory insurance and American insurance. The road tax must be paid in Japanese Yen only. All documents must be originals and current. The rates are by license plates series: License plate series 40/400, 50/500, 77/78..................... ¥7,500 License plate series 33/300 (4,500cc & below)............... ¥19,000 License plate series 33/300 (above 4,500cc).................. ¥22,000 License plate series 11/100, 88/800.................................. ¥32,000 Mini car and motorcycle road tax is not available at the theater and must be paid at the local city or town office. However, if the specified tax is already paid then the decal will be available at the event. Mini-car road tax.......................................................................... ¥3,000 Motorcycle road tax (126cc or more)....................................... ¥1,000 Motorcycle road tax (125cc or less)......................................... ¥500 Other tax collection locations, dates and times are as follows: Camp Kinser, Surf Side: 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 6 Camp Foster, Theater: 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 16-18 Camp Courtney, SNCO Club: 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 19-20 Camp Hansen, The Palms: 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 24 Camp Schwab, Camp Services: 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 25 Torii Station, The Havana: 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. May 23 Lines at the Keystone Theater may close early depending on personnel in line. Documents must be originals and current. All vehicles not de-registered before April 1 must pay road tax. The deadline for the road tax is May 31. Upon payment of the tax, patrons will be issued a 2016 road tax decal that must be displayed before June 1, or risk being stopped by security forces.
