Wisconsin ANG Airman dies at Kadena after fall

KADENA AIR BASE, Japan -- An Airman assigned to the Wisconsin Air National Guard, 115th Fighter Wing, died April 5 following a fall from a fifth-story window.

Airman 1st Class Kelly Tomfohrde, 22, a student at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and native of Auburndale, Wisconsin, was taken to the U.S. Navy Hospital Okinawa at Camp Foster where she was pronounced dead at 9:51 p.m.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Airman Tomfohrde's family and friends during this difficult time," said Col. Jeffrey Wiegand, 115th Fighter Wing commander. "The men and women of 115th Fighter Wing also mourn with them as we have lost one of our own."

The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
