Another Airman's body recovered, one remains missing

KADENA AIR BASE, Japan --  A combined U.S. Air Force and Japanese search team recovered the body of one of the two Airmen still missing after being swept out to sea from the northwest coast of Okinawa on Oct. 5.  U.S. Air Force personnel discovered the Airman close to the shore, about 1.5 miles south of the presumed incident location.

The release of the Airman's identity is pending next-of-kin notification.

Air- and sea-based search operations for the final missing Airman ended for the evening at sunset, and are planned to begin at sunrise Oct. 8.  Shore-based searches will continue late into the evening Oct. 7 to capitalize on calmer seas and low tide.

On Oct. 5, the body of Senior Master Sgt. James Swartz was recovered by the Japan Coast Guard.

The three Airmen were temporarily assigned to Kadena Air Base from Robins Air Force Base, Ga.

空軍兵一人の遺体を回収、最後の一人はまだ発見されず

仮訳：アメリカ空軍と日本の捜索隊は、10月5日に沖縄本島の北西海岸で高波に流され行方不明となっていた空軍兵二名のうち一名の遺体を発見した。事故現場と推測される場所からおよそ1.5マイル南側の岸に近い場所で、（捜索活動中の）空軍兵がその遺体を発見した。

親族への連絡が完了するまでこの空軍兵についての情報は公表されない。

最後の一人を探す航空機、船による捜索活動は日没で中断し、明日8日の日の出とともに再開される予定。波が穏やかになり引き潮となる時間に合わせ、沿岸部の捜索活動は7日夜間も引き続き行われる。

10月5日には、海上保安庁がジェイムズ・ショルツ上級曹長の遺体を回収した。
空軍兵3名はロビンス空軍基地から嘉手納基地に一時的に所属していた。
